To coordinate, promote and support the development and management of Asian botanical gardens. 2. To help build regional capacity and expertise at a time of rapid global change. 3. To strengthen botanical garden networking among the Asian developing countries and promote exchange of professional skills and ideas. Programs: Lectures: missions and the history of botanic gardens, plant exhibition, botanical garden design, flower production and border planning, genetic R&D in plant conservation, taxonomy, herbarium and seed bank, educational theory and practice, customer service and marketing. Field trip: plant identification, specimen making, field survey methods and techniques. Visits: Shanghai Botanical Garden, Songjiang District Zuibaichi Park and Fangta Park, Hangzhou Botanical Garden, Shanghai Natural History Museum.
