The Uzbekistan “Urban Resilience” Training Program

Objectives:

1. Promoting Urban Safety Knowledge: This training enhances research sharing between China and Uzbekistan, focusing on earthquake monitoring, seismic design, and active technologies. Tailored courses for Uzbek officials will support urban earthquake disaster systems and policy development.

2. Strengthening Research and Cultural Collaboration: Linked to the China-Uzbekistan Urban Science Lab, this platform fosters scientific cooperation and cultural exchange. Participants may join future collaborative projects, driving innovation in urban safety.

3. Deepening Strategic Cooperation: In line with the “Belt and Road” initiative, this training strengthens China- Uzbekistan strategic ties, boosting technology, knowledge, and talent sharing to build a closer international cooperation network.

4. Establishing the China Experience and the China-Uzbekistan Cooperation Brand: China and Uzbekistan will jointly explore new models and pathways of cooperation, build the China-Uzbekistan technology cooperation brand, promote educational and industrial collaboration between China and Central Asian countries, and further enhance China’s global influence and leadership.

Programs:

The training program will focus on cutting-edge technologies for urban safety and earthquake disaster prevention, leveraging the research strengths of Chongqing University to study internationally leading seismic disaster prevention techniques. The curriculum will include lectures from renowned experts, policy interpretations, laboratory visits, on- site construction studies, and industry exchanges. Participants will include Uzbek government officials and young scientists in urban safety. To maximize the role of government officials, specialized lectures on earthquake prevention policies and international cooperation mechanisms will be provided, aiming to explore best practices and solutions in urban safety.

The “Urban Resilience” training program consists of three main components . The first component focuses on academic research and study visits, where participants will engage in a series of specialized lectures, seminars, and practical courses. The second component emphasizes cultural exchange, fostering in-depth interactions between China and Uzbekistan in the cultural sphere and building a cross-cultural academic exchange platform. The third component centers on industrial collaboration, facilitating industry matchmaking in the field of urban safety. Through on-site visits and industry interactions, young Uzbek scientists will be closely connected with relevant Chinese enterprises, design institutes, and engineering projects.
