Time: July 1, 2025 Venue: Lanzhou, Zhangye, Minqin, Dunhuang Working Language: English Objectives: Against the backdrop of global climate change, the regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, as sensitive areas in response to global climate change, are confronted with increasingly severe challenges in terms of ecological environment and sustainable development. In order to jointly address these challenges and promote sustainable development among Belt and Road partner countries, we hereby organize the International Training Course on Climate Change for the Belt and Road partner countries. This training course aims to achieve the following three objectives. ① Enhancing resilience to climate change.Through systematic training, the capacity of developing countries along the Belt and Road in climate change monitoring, assessment and prediction will be enhanced, and methods of observation and analysis of the climate environment will be taught, so as to provide scientific decision-making support for countries dealing with climate change. ② Promoting knowledge-sharing and technology exchange.Through this training to promote China’s intelligent grid forecasting and other new technologies, to promote the establishment of an international exchange platform for cutting-edge research on global climate change, and to promote knowledge sharing and technical exchanges among the countries along the route in the field of climate change in terms of theoretical research, observation technology and forecasting models. ③ Promoting the deepening of international cooperation. The training course can enhance mutual understanding and trust among Belt and Road partner countries, promote the establishment of a closer multilateral cooperation mechanism, and jointly address the risks and challenges of global climate change. Programs: This training program aims to recruit 20 scientific researchers and technicians from research institutions, universities, meteorological departments, and other relevant fields engaged in climate change research from developing countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Egypt, Algeria, and others. The training will last for 15 days. The program boasts a rich curriculum, covering various aspects such as cutting-edge theoretical research on climate change, advancements in observation technology, progress in global prediction models, and practical courses.
