The Storage Industry founded the Strategic Alliance of Technology Innovation on January 29 in Beijing. Backed by Langchao Holdings Limited and initiated by 26 enterprises, universities and research institutes, the alliance received great support from the Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization, the Department of Policy, Regulations and Reform, MOST and Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology.

In the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, MOST arranged a major project on key technologies of mass storage system under the 863 Program and approved 36 institutions, including the alliance, to seek breakthrough in key technologies of high-end storage system, develop high-performance petabyte-scale storage system, and demonstrate the new technology in key institutions.
